Scammed out of $2915

Signed contract with Home Fix Corporation on 02/28/2014 for roof replacement and gave $2915 deposit via debit card. The contract stated that the work was to commence within 6-8 weeks of signing contract. Six weeks later, I had not heard from company, so I began calling to find out status and was told after each time after five calls that I would be contacted right away. When I was finally able to get someone on the phone 04/14/2014, I was told there is no record of my contract and that someone would call me back. When I called Home Fix at 9:00am on 04/15/2014, there was no answer. Since there was no answer via phone, I drove to their physical office on to find it empty - as if they ran off in the night. I am prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law and exposing them on any/every media possible and reporting to any/all agencies that exist.

HOMEFIX of Gburg, HOMEFIX CORP, HOMEFIX INC, ALL THE SAME COMPANY!!!

Maryland Case Search.com, ALL OF THESE COMPANIES ARE THE SAME! pull up all companies and look at the owners, look at all the law suits against them. Look at how many times they have changed names, look at how they continually relocate and change "resident agents". They are ALL THE SAME COMPANY, THEY ARE ALL SCAMMERS AND *** ARTISTS!!! If they hadnt been able to change their names so often, the state would of shut them down already, they are scamming our judicial system just as bad as they will try to scam you!!! This company is pathetic, they should be ashamed!!! I think their lawsuits speak volumes.

HOMEFIX of Gburg, HOMEFIX CORP, HOMEFIX INC, ALL THE SAME COMPANY!!!

THese companies are all owned by the same scam/conartist. I year ago I got duped by them, the man stalked me, a year later, they oddly show up at my door last night again. They told me they were not the same company. I was told they were not the same company last year. Well, guess what, fool me once, whoa is me, fool me twice, not gonna happen!!!Well, if you pull up Maryland Case Search website, pull up both companies, do a little bit of research, you will see they are all owned by the same two people. Alls they do is switch their names around, switch the "resident agent" and switch locations, over and over and over again. These two men have been doing this since the early 90's!!!! Oddly enough the wife of one of the owners has been married to two men with the same last name? Jeeze, that sounds kind of odd. Is the man changing his real name to avoid lawsuits? Hmmm, go to mdcasesearch and find out!!! TOTAL ***-ARTIST!!!

The people at Homefix of Gaithersburg are a bunch of rude, disrespectful individuals. The guy was just in my neighborhood and tried to pick a fight with me. He says he has the right to expand his business and not pay attention to any signs that say do not solicit.

Terrible Service, Terrible Work

I know I have complained before about how the salesman came into my house, asked for wine like he was interested in me and then sold me some overpriced windows. Well now, I have something else to complain about. The actual work and these no good workers (or hired day laborers) that came and installed my windows and doors. The sealant on the windows looks like something I could of done and I am not licensed to put in windows. There is caulk all over my windows and to top it off, it took them two days to install a storm door that I was charged $1000 for and the door does not lock AT ALL. What is the point of having a door for added security and the thing DOES NOT WORK!!!! Very upset and I wished I would of shopped around to get my windows done because now I am in the process of selling my house and when people come and look at this mess, that is a complete turn off and who has $10,000 to redo windows and a door?

I had an appointment set up to get a free estimate on windows and a sliding glass door. When the day came up my son got sent to the er and I had to take care of that first so I had to cancel the appt. Since that day mind you 3 months ago.. I have been getting 3 to 4 phone calls a day. I want them to stop calling me this is harrassment and the company could loose their business if I decide to take further action. IM DONE WITH THEM!!! If they read this please stop calling me

We are sorry you have had trouble with HomeFix regarding multiple phone calls. Please contact Adam Shampaine, SVP of HomeFix Fairfax on his direct mobile phone (443) 730-**** and he will personally see to it that your issue is resolved.

Guest

My wife gave them our number to in regard to a potential estimate for a roof. My wife and I have received more phone calls than you can imagine from these people.

And this is after asking to be removed from their lists multiple times. My wife has easily been called 10 or more times, every time she'll ask to be removed from their lists. One woman just flat out hung up on her.

HomeFix might do great work, I don't know. But unfortunately their customer service/marketing department is abysmal and this experience would prevent me from hiring them to do anything.

HomeFix Scam Artist

Listen. if you chose to allow this company in your home this is what will follow. You will me a 25-35 year old man. He will tell you he is the uncle of the owner. he will probably alude to being a "director of marketing" These are 2 lies off that bat. No one employed there is related to the owner and they have no position called "marketing director" The company is comprised of the president, 7 or 8 salesmen, 20-25 15 years olds that go door to door looking for leads and a 5-10 telemarketers. Next they will tell you about their "Model Home Program" and how you have been chosen for it. They will give you a lengthy presentation about the history of the company and how the "Model Home Program" was developed. This is the next lie. There is no "Model Home Program" Next they will give you a severely marked up price and then tell you they will give you "40%" off of that price but you have have to sign up today to be the "model home" because if you dont they have have 3 more apointments and one of them will. These are the next lies. You can sign the contract that day or 6 months from now and they will give you the same price. They simply introduce the price with a 40% mark up to give you the feeling of receiving a deal. Next if they pressure you into the contract please make sure they attach the "right to cancel" form. They by law have to have you sign acknowledging you have the right to cancel but more times than not they try and skip over it or just dont bring it as to avoid inducing buyers remorse. Lastly just know they will never ever be the lowest price you come across. If you get the same window anywhere else it will be cheaper. I have sat in the room with alot of these particular sales guys and they laugh about how they over charged up 150-200 a window and then brag about how overcharging fattened their paychecks that week. Every word is true and I bet you will find many people will comment with the exact same experience. If more people were willing to share their experience instead of feeling embarassed that they got duped I believe you would see a lot more educated consumers and a lot less scam artists like these.

I had the same experience with homefix TWICE. Keep in mind, I live in a two story townhouse with no larger than a 900 Square Foot Roof.

The first visit the salesman shows up in a VERY nice sports car dressed in khakis and a polo shirt I immediately knew I was not going to like this. He spends less than 10 minutes looking at my roof, comes inside and asks for a chair (because you know, ladders don't fit in sports cars) to stand on and look in my attic using the light of his iPhone.

of course he's not liking my 20+ roof. It's not the WORST he's seen but "it's close". It of course needs to be replaced in the next month or so..or at least before the winter.

Then we sit down and for about an hour and a half he goes over the Top-o-the-line roofing technology, best of the best of the best. I'm asking him as politely as I can to please quote me a price already. He quotes me approximately $11,500 for my roof, giving me a model home price of $6600 that I must accept now and gave me the same *** about how this price will be grabbed within the 3rd appointment he had that day...and I thank him and he goes on his way.

Now a couple months go by and I receive a cold call regarding free estimates on roofing. As I'm still in the market I accept the cold call free estimate. I ask what company they are from but I get no response. The next day a salesman shows up in a CORVETTE! He's at the house for about 5 minutes before he asks me of someone has already been here. I go and grab the quote and sure enough, same company. He looks at the quote and TWO MONTHS later says he can try and beat the model home price. I tell him, I'm just looking for a third quote and I'm not interested in accepting any offers at this point. We discuss how my parents replaced their $2500+ square foot roof including the garage for about $5000. His response is that subcontractors use day laborers and pay them $100 a day so they can afford to quote that low...

The thought going through my mind: The guy who did my parents roof was a family friend that owns his own company and has his own hired employees including his sons, cousins, brothers etc. Not one of these employees were "day laborers" and if you knew my dad, He'd have nothing to do with a company that did. When a recent storm hit the area he called up his roofer who came out and fixed some shingles that had blown off...its been almost 10+ years since they replaced his roof. This will be the guy that does my roofing.

Bottom line, I didn't believe a word that either salesman said. They were high pressure flashy salesmen. Next time, show up in a white truck with tools, ladders wearing *** jeans and a t-shirt. Get up in my attic, on top of my house and actually look at the roof. That's what I'm looking for

Guest

I'm a bit upset at your message Michael. Homefix had come out about a year ago and did a wonderful 50 year architectural roof on our house and till this day it looks as if was done yesterday. We have gone through many arduous weather conditions and it did its job Max was the gentleman that came to our house and took care of us like family as he said and did a pretty *** good job. He made sure that we got what we paid for and the installer were a awe to see. It seems like you never had a chance to get your roof done which is a shame because you would of had the same experience as I. Further, if you think of most roofs done in Virginia there builder *** grade so I wouldn't be surprised if that was your type.

Max and Homefix 5stars....i don't like when uneducated homeowners bash people that do such a great job.

Thank you Homefix

Guest

Apologies for crazy use of words in my previous post. I am writing this on my phone, and autocorrect is having a blast at my expense.

Guest

Today we had a "director of marketing" named Max visit us at our house. Everything went exactly as described by the original poster. He said his uncle is the owner who brought him into the business, but that Max himself is an architect. He talked about model home program and have us a price that was good only for today. When we did not age to sign contact today, he have us $2500 off of his original write if we hire them within next 6 months.

He spent much effort describing how *** all other roofing contractors are and how poor their materials and workmanship is. He also soared no words in trashing whoever put the current roof on our house.

The whole meeting with him reminded me a car dealer whose main goal in life is to sell you a car TODAY!

Did not like high pressure tactic at all.

Guest

when I read your complaint I found it difficult to believe this was the same HomeFix that installed my new windows. First off, I did not get the "uncle of the owner" speach.

Second, when I compared pricing vs.

warranty to other companies I received estimates from, I found those who were significanly cheaper used infrior materials and did not offer the same warranty Homefix did. I guess it always comes down to, "you get what you pay for", and I for one will always be willing to pay a couple extra dollars for a quality product and good service.

Guest

Mr. Tope Lala sold the Gaithersburg office to his employees so it is now considered a franchise.

All methods of operation and service are exactly the same, only liability has changed.

All potential customers should ask for, and receive in writing PRIOR to committing, an itemized list of materials to be used and warranties associated. All products should clearly state who the manufacturer is since not all products are manufactured the same.

Guest

I sincerely apologize for your experience with HomeFix. I am unable to determine if you worked with us from your original message, but if this is the case, please let me know so that we can resolve the situation. Email customerservice@***.com with your information and I will be happy to assist you.

Homwfix had my 80yr old blind mother sign a contract for a new roof

Homefix called my 80 yr old legally blind mother randomly to solicit some business ie sell a roofing job. They told her how great they were and that they had the most competitive price and if they could meet with her today she would get a FREE estimate. She agreed and they were there within a couple of hours. The salesperson asked her how old the roof was and she told him that Dad had a new roof put on in 1987. He told her that roofs only last 20 years so it was really time to replace it. He went up on the roof to do the Free inspection. When he came down they told her that she had shingles missing and now she had rotten areas in the roof. It really needed to be replaced. He totally snowed her. He wrote up a contract and had her sign it. My mother has Macular Degeneration and cannot read type unless it's back lit and enlarged 20x and that takes time. He had another appointment to get to, so he read it to her!!!!! Can you believe it! Wouldn't even leave it for her to go over it with someone else! But, he waited around long enough to write him a deposit check of $4807.00. Luckily when she told me about it I was able to contact her bank and stop the check. While at the bank I called the phone# on the contract and canceled the contract. The guy I spoke to said he hand deliver the check to my mother and I told him to destroy it since it was no good anymore the banker said he needed to mail it back. I called Mom to tell her it was taken care of and guess who comes knocking on her door!! I told not to open it and just say "We canceled the contract". I believe that what the did is criminal. Taking advantage of the elderly and disabled is a crime and they should lose their licence.

Homefix 24/7 spoke to my dead mother

Homefix 24/7 sold my mother insurance for her sky satellite dish for £75 a year – questionable insurance in that the cost of a call out is less. However the real concern is that their sales techniques. Their sales people used high pressure telephone sales but the real beauty was when they wrote to my mother in October saying - "following our telephone conversation of 3rd October we enclose your renewal documents. The telephone conversation where they claimed she had renewed her policy was remarkable given that she had by that point been dead for several weeks. Makes one wonder doesn’t it

HomeFix solicited me for what they advertise as a FREE ESTIMATE. After sitting through over 2 hours of the most horrible sales pitch ever I would not sign a contract. My sales representative, Graham, snatched the estimate from my hands. When I asked about my NO OBLIGATION FREE ESTIMATE he said he would send it to me in the mail. That was over three weeks ago. No estimate ever received. What a HUGE waste of my time. At this point, if I can't even get the no obligation estimate, I would NEVER sign a contract with them. My sales representative, Graham, was consensending and rude. When when the light bulb finally went off in his head that I was not going to sign a $23,000 contract on the spot, he packed up his samples (and damaged my cherry wood dining room table in his haste) and left with a BIG ATTITUDE! I just spoke to Graham a few minutes ago. 1 hour pitch for a roof, lots of it was the common pressure sales techniques; meh, I figured that was par for the course.

When I finally convinced him that I wasn't going to buy yet, he started to walk away with the numbers.

I asked for them, and he did hand them over. He did leave very quickly and became rather terse when he knew he wasn't going to make a sale, but I wouldn't exactly say it was with a big bad attitude.

The comment posted below is exactly what happen to my husband and I. But, once he finally got the hint he told us "that he had to call his office to get his next address".

My husband and I knew that Graham was calling to talk to his boss. He told his boss that we wanted him out of our home and we were wrapping it up and had to put their kid to bed. He was condescending and when he wouldn't stop talking we told him we were upfront and were only looking for the estimate. We also told them upfront that we were not going to sign anything.

He stormed out of our house and peeled out of our driveway and up the street. We will not be doing business with them. Here is the previouse email from anonymous... We HomeFix solicited me for what they advertise as a FREE ESTIMATE.

HOMEFIX CORP HUGE SCAM, HORRIBLE!!!

This is not about HOMEFIX CORPORATION OF GAITHERSBURG. This is Homefixcoporation.com, in VA MD & DE. I dont even know where to start. This was so unprofessional on tooooo many levels!!!!! I wanted a FREE ESTIMATE, just as one of the other complainants posted, I was totally duped into signing a contract. Im not a ***, btw. I was disclosed soooo much additional information, but oddly not disclosed what I was really signing off on. The "Marketing Rep, Tommy" came to my house, he only "goes to about 6 sales calls a year" but for ME, WOW JUST FOR ME, HE CAME TO GIVE ME THE BEST OFFER!!! Arent I special?? Funny, another complainant down the street, had the same exact complaint. So there are now 2 identical complaints to mine, 2 different issues? VER BATIM of what I would of said, or did say to them. I reviewed the contract I was duped into signing, as I was highly perplexed how I got scammed. The third page was missing, the "intent to terminate contract" page was oddly missing??? Hmm, that sounds fishy. Again, I was only (thought) I was signing off on a "Free Estimate". Good Ol Tommy, the one who "is going to own the company in 6 years" (TMI! UNPROFESSIONAL, BRAGGING) Tommy says he will be back in a week to give me my FREE ESTIMATE. FYI, because I was soooo special, I was going to be given $10,000 off the original price, can you believe it???? Hells no!! Sounded good, I wanted to see it on paper!! Oddly the next day, a have a man come to my door to "start the job"!!!!!!! START THE JOB??? WHAT? I didnt even get a phone call, I got a POP IN!!! This is wrong on soooo many levels!!! The man feels bad, he can tell Im pissed, I told him I wanted a free estimate and he finishes my sentence "and they just wanted to make a sale". HMM, seems like this poor man has heard this before????? Not a good sign to me at all. I tell the man I dont want to waste his time and to leave as I only signed off on a FREE ESTIMATE, to which he is looking at it and says, I HAVE A SIGNED CONTRACT TO START THE JOB. Again... WHAT????? Tommy calls me 11 times that day!!!! 5x in 6 minutes while Im on a work phonecall!!!! so unprofessional, bordering on STALKING!!!!! I file a formal complaint via fax, I tell them without the 3rd page of their bogus contract, that makes the entire contract NULL & VOID!! Apparently Tommy didnt get the memo, and the *** calls my house that night at 8:30pm, again very unprofessional. My husband takes the phone from me and proceeds to ask Tommy where the third page is of the contract, AS TOMMY ARGUES WITH HIM THAT HE HAS A SIGNED CONTRACT TO START so who cares what my husband has to say, Tommy has his contract. When again, asked where is the 3rd page to the contract, 'the intent to terminate contract', he says "IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THERE" and hangs up. Needless to say the first time my husband hung up on him, Tommy had the nerve to call back, at least this time he did not. I had a very nice man call me and apologize for Tommy's unprofessionalismS. I told him I was not trying to slander the company but yet this man is a complete scamming salesman. After reading so (too) many complaints on him in particular, I realize this man is a total *** artist and uses the same song and dance on everyone he can get his hands on. I am renegging on my offer to not slander the company- and I will let everyone know how horrible my experience was, as it is obviously happening to many others, same exact song and dance. If I saw no other identical complaints on this man, I would never ever do this. This man needs to be stopped. The company needs to fire him, regardless of his uncle owning it and him going to own it in 6 years when he inherits it. ***

They quoted my 85 year old mother $42,000 for a new roof! She has an average sized house.

By the time the salesman left, he had "come down" to only $25,000 if she signed on the spot. Thank God she didn't sign but she worried about it for two days before she called me.

There is a special place in *** for these people. I'll be looking into how to press charges against this fraudulent company.

Guest

This complaint is full of so many false statements, the main one being that these two companies are the same - they are not. Also, there's no way they could have even attempted to start on your project the next day. They would not have even had the materials ordered by then.

WANNA MAKE A BET ABOUT THAT??? I have no reason in the world to make up a story about these people.

Read the rest of the complaints and its scary, they clearly do the same exact scam on everyone. They came the next day to measure, not install.

If you want to see how you can prove they are the same company... go to "Maryland Case Search" website and compare all the names of the lawsuits on them...

all's they do is rotate the owners names from the company names, they are all owned by the same group of names. Look it up!!! I have no reason to lie. Truth be told about these scammers.

Truth be told, look it up, public information, the lawsuits say a bit too much about them... THE TRUTH.

Guest

ALL HOMEFIX COMPANIES ARE THE SAME!!! Look it up on Md Case Search, they are all owned by the same two people!!!

Look at the law suits against them. They have been scamming people since the 90's. They say Homefix Corporation of Gaithersburg is not the same as Homefix Corporation. Well, they are ALL the same, HOMEFIX CORP, HOMEFIX CORP OF GBURG, HOMEFIX INC, THEY ARE ALL OWNED BY THE SAME TWO PEOPLE.

They keep changing their names as the "resident agent" and switch locations, They are pathetic, they cant read a NO SOLICITING SIGN and they are not soliciting with any permit. They say they dont need a permit as they are offerting something for free, which is a total lie. THey love to prey on the elderly and non english speaking families.

THey are truly disgusting and have horrible work ethics. If they didnt keep switching their names around so much in the court systems, they would of been shut down years ago.

Guest

Myers, you are talking about the wrong company. The Gaithersburg one is not even the same company or owner.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-522590

Look it up on Maryland Case Search, they are all the same company owners, they rotate their names thru the same companies to avoid being shut down. The court cases say it all. They are all the same owners of the same companies.

MY SALESMAN WAS GREAT! BUT REALLY AFTER I FELL FOR THE TRAP IT WAS DOWN HILL FROM THERE!!!

This company is the joke of all jokes!!!!!!! there is no such thing as director of marketing they play a game to act like your getting a great deal that day. then they say the work will be done 6-8 weeks but still it will not happen they take your money and you wait wait wait, Merrick the owner, james the "manager" scam people daily by telling people they are hooking you up. when there not DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ........ NEVER TRUST A COMPANY FIRST OF ALL FROM A 16 YEAR OLD KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR, ITS A JOKE SO GO AHEAD SET THE APPOINTMENT, THEN WHAT WELL THIS WILL FOLLOW, Director Of Marketing Sales Pitch Introduction

1.)___Home Owner___________, Thank you for allowing Homefix into your home. We appreciate the opportunity. Obviously, we would love to get together and do business with you today. However, the purpose of today is education. We believe the best consumer is an educated consumer. That is why the price we work up today, we will guarantee for 1 year, so if and when you are ready to make a decision, you can have all the information you need to feel comfortable with it. We think that is a good way of doing business- Wouldn’t you agree?

2.)____Home Owner_______, I’m not sure if you are familiar with HomeFix before someone stopped by, so I would like to take a moment and tell you a little about my company. I feel it’s important to know about the company that could potentially could doing any project on your home. This is the company disclosure sheet. It gives you all the important information about HomeFix. We were established in 1990, we have been in business for over 22 years, Which is a milestone in the home improvement industry. We serve MD, DC and VA. We are fully licensed, bonded, insured and also carry workman’s comp.

- This tells you a couple of things about my company.

- First and foremost, heaven forbid, if anyone got hurt on your property you would NOT be liable, because we are fully covered.

3.)____Home Owner_____, Secondly that we are a turn key operation, we have been running all our installations for over 15 years centralized out of Beltsville, Md. So we have an all inclusive parts and labor warranty with our products. We have done over 35,000 jobs in the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area. Averaging less than a 1% complaint ratio since we have been in business, We maintain a (triple) A rating with Dunns and Bradstreet and an A rating with the B.B.B. and as Director Of Marketing it is one of my many jobs to maintain that A rating, that’s why I know that we’ve only had less than 10 complaints in the past 3 years all of which are resolved and to do that kind of volume and average less then 1% complaint ratio, 30 million in sales last year I think is amazing. We really take pride in our products, service and installation.

4.)_____Home Owner___, Now are you familiar with Qualified Remodeler? Well it’s a National Home improvement publication. It’s like the Forbes of the home improvement industry, and like Forbes they list the top 500 companies in America based on volume. We’ve been making the list since 1992. In 2 years we were a 5 million dollar company, fast forward to 1995, we than made it to Inc. magazine where we were one of the nations fastest growing privately owned companies where we grew to over 10 million in sales that year. The Washington Post wanted to know how we did it, how we grew to make 138 out of 500, not 499 or 498 so they wrote an article on HomeFix and interviewed Tope and George the original owners. In a nutshell, they graduated from University of Maryland, worked for a home improvement company and saved $20,000, then started Homefix Corp. Shortly realizing that $20,000 wasn’t a lot of money to market the company, they resorted to knocking on doors of homes that needed replacement windows, siding, roofs and doors and they said, “you allow us to showcase our products in your home we will give you a greatly reduced price” and the Advertisement Home Program began.

5.) Fast forward to 2011 numbers came out and we are the 13th largest company in the nation at a little over 32 million in sales. Now some companies that made the list you may of heard of are Thompson Creek, Bath-fitters, Castle windows. Now I ask you if you have heard of these companies but haven’t actually done business with them, how did you hear of them? In a word advertising. Now that’s great, but these companies have spent millions of dollars a year collectively to advertise their name. And you know who really pays for that, you the consumer. Now with that being said you might ask me: Greg if you’re the 13th largest home improvement company in the entire nation why haven’t we heard of you prior to someone knocking at your door? Well that’s a great question and I am glad you asked. The reason for that has everything to do with why I am here as the director of marketing and not one of my sales reps because we don’t advertise. Homefix has never done a television ad, a radio slot, billboard, ect. We are 35% referral based and the rest of our business comes from the advertisement home program which I’m responsible for. Now, in a nutshell the program; If you qualify for it can save you 40% off list price. Now if I can save you 40% off our list price there are a few things I would ask from you.

First, we request that a job sign be put in front of your home for 30 days. It’s a red and white sign that says HomeFix has done it again and it’s the size of any normal real estate sign.

Second I’m going to circulate 400 door hangers and flyers. Their going to say, call HomeFix, save 500 dollars, and see our work at, ________(it will have your address on it). I’m going to distribute 400 of these in your neighborhood, I know by doing that I’ll have 30 people drive by, walk by maybe while walking the dog, come by on their daily jog or whatever just to take a look at it. If 30 people do that, 20 are going to love the way the jobs looks, they’re going to see the homefix sign and they’re going to call us. I’m going to set 15 appointments and I will do 5-8 jobs with every advertisement home I do. The system works!

We ask that you be a reference for us, you know; if we do a great job for you, you will tell people; your family, your friends, neighbors, and coworkers because if I did a bad job you would tell everyone wouldn’t you. So all we ask is you tell everybody when we do a great job.

Allow us to take before and after pictures if we so desire. We don’t do it for every job, but if we do windows and siding and completely transform your house we would want to showcase that, if we put a bay window where there is no bay we would want to show case that, etc.

Of course I can’t make you do anything or twist your arm, if you did qualify for the program and took part in it, I will ask you don’t discuss the actual price with your surrounding neighbors, I can’t do every homeowner at 40% off list that would defeat the purpose of my program.

Now with that being said, there is a drawback; well, some people think it’s a drawback; I would like to be straight forward with you about my pricing structure. If you do qualify for the program it’s either accept or decline while I am here today. Now let me explain why that is. It’s not designed to back you in a corner or twist your arm. For the program to work it has to be aggressive, and what I mean by that is, 35% of our business is referral the rest is based off this program. We are clearly marketing your neighborhood, that’s why someone came to your door, now along with you he set up about 4-5 more appointments. Now I have to be able to offer my program to the next person if they qualify for it, so if I said to call me next week I’d still have to offer it to the next person that qualified and so on and so on and if they all called me in two weeks then two things could happen.

First, nobody calls then one week becomes 2 weeks then 3. I need to do one to two advertisement homes a week otherwise the systems doesn’t work. Because I know I’m going to get 5-8 jobs from every advertisement home. Now also what could happen is then everyone calls, so then I have 4 to 5 on the same street at 40% off list which defeats the purpose of the program. So all I ask is to keep an open mind. I don’t twist arms I don’t back people in corners. Best case scenario if you love my product, feel that HomeFix is going to do a great job for you and you like 40% off list I implore you to take advantage of it because it is an opportunity.

Its not everyday you have the director of marketing of a multi-million dollar company at your home to talk about windows, roofs, siding, etc. with that being said if timing is not right, or the price is still not right whatever the case may be I’m still going to leave you with my list price which is good for one year. I am still confident that you could shop my list price and in 8 months you can still call me saying you know joe, you are still 2-3,000 dollars lower then your competitors. I wish I would have taken the 40% off but are still competitive and we still want to do business.

All and all we take pride in our products, service and installations. Just keep an open mind for me. Fair enough? Any questions about the program if you did qualify for it

Director Of Marketing Sales Pitch Introduction

OMG! This is almost verbatim the sales scam we were given.

These guys need to Go away. From the dreadlocked unprofessional that forced the appointment on me to the lying salesman. They are flat out lying to everyone they come in contact with!

We live in VA and had the 'marketing manager' give us this bogus 40% offer as well. I will be letting everyone know to avoid this company by any means necessary

the dreadlocked guy..lol. That sounds about right.

How unprofessional.

The scary part about this company is that we had the same "i'm the Homefix Marketing Director...

sign today pressure pitch a few years ago" When we called Homefix to give our complaint the owner or manager said that was likely a tactic used by that single individual and he would be spoken too if not terminated.

Somehow my wife signed up again with Homefix at a homeshow(we now realize they changed the logo) and sure enough THE EXACT SAME Homefix scam marketing director advertising home sign today pitch was given. Unbelievable.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HOMEFIX.. STAY AWAY!

I used to work for Homefix in Gaithersburg and my first words of advice... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! The main sales pitch for Homefix is they give you a huge story about the history of the business. The 2 original owners couldnt afford advertising so they started knocking on doors and offering an "advertisement home" program, where if you allow them to put a sign out front and distribute flyers for 30 days you will receive a "40% discount". But you cant discuss the price with your neighbors and you have to decide while the salesman is in your home because they have "sooo many" other appointments and its first come first serve. It doesnt matter if you sign that night or 6 months from then.. you will get the same deal... in fact, even the "40%" discounted price is inflated and higher than most other companies. Secondly... they love to sell you on the "all inclusive parts and labor warranty" which is also BS which you can see from the review by Bruce n. they will offer it to you but that doesnt mean they will follow through, and they usually dont! and someone from homefix can make a review saying that I am a bitter ex-employee, and you know what, you are absolutely right! because they treat their employess just as bad as their customers... in fact I have a friend who did business with them and now refuses to advertise for them like agreed because of how ill he was treated by even the Owner! Ive stated nothing that isnt true, in fact I could of said a lot more. I worked for them long enough to know how they operate, and if I can keep only one person from being screwed over by these guys then thats enough for me. but if you were smart you would shop around and find a better company because believe me there are plenty out there.

Life insarunce is insarunce on your life. If you die the insarunce company pays money to your beneficiaries.

they could be family, friends, the company you work for even a charitable organization. as long as there is an insurable interest. If you are dead the money from the insarunce can pay for your funeral, your debts, mortgage, medical bills, car payments, children's college education, your families survival if you are no longer here to provide for them, as well as pay for inheritance taxes, probate taxes (life insarunce is tax free)if you are single, no family, no responsibilities and don't mind being buried by the state then you probably don't need life insarunce.Lots of policies don't get cashed in or claimed, its when someone dies and the insarunce company doesn't know about it. a death claim has not been made, usually because the beneficiaries didn't know the person had the policy.

in this case the insarunce company just keeps the money until a claim is made. There are lots of different kinds of policies and it can get a little confusing. Visit your state insarunce departments website or even talk to an agent most would be more than willing to help, if you don't know where to find one go to a place like netquote.com or elquote.com and they'll hook you up with one

JohnnyD,

HomeFix Corporation of Gaithersburg is not the same company as HomeFix Corporation (Fairfax and Baltimore locations), nor are they affiliated in any way.

Thank you,

HomeFix

Home fix is a rip off

Home fix sucks. The marketing director came to my house. Drank wine with me and then tried to ask me on a date just to make a sale. He said "if you are willing to get the windows, I'll throw in a door" I get the contract and there is a $1000 difference. Since when does a screen door costs 1000? I told them I was very upset with the work. My windows are still drafty. And they sold my loan within a week of my complaint. I plan to continue to complain and I hope that they lose business. Please do not use home fix. They are a rip off

Happy with Homefix, went with them twice

Homefix of Fairfax replaced my roof last year and they did a great job. They were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They did the work in a timely fashion, and I was happy with the job. Last week, I had them come back to replace my storm door and a sliding door in the back. Again, everything went well and I was very satisfied. I even recommended Homefix to a neighbor and she had them replace all her windows. She was satisfied as well. When I replace my windows down the line I fully intend to back to Homefix again. I'd recommend Homefix to anybody.

Filled out a credit application in my name w/o my approval

In VA, you have 3 days to terminate the contract after signing, in case you change your mind. I was pushed really hard to sign a contract when I didn't even want to, to lock in the price, which was good. There were several variables I was uncomfortable with, and I found someone I liked better the next day. I was told by Scott that all I had to do was call him to cancel. I had NOT authorized him to seek credit for me for the project. When I called to cancel and was sending in my written notice, Scott said that I HAD TO COME TO THE OFFICE because he had gotten me approved for a loan for the project, and THAT IF I DIDN'T COME TO THEIR OFFICE IT WOULD AFFECT MY CREDIT! I never asked for that AND HAD TOLD HIM I NEEDED AT LEAST 2 DAYS TO DECIDE AND CONFIRM. Also, Even AFTER meeting with the salesman Scott, I was called to set up a first estimate though he had been there already! Now I feel they are being lying, extortionist, as well as using my identity info for fraudulent credit request and I am getting hassled by them when I DO NOT WANT THEM FOR THE WORK AND I AM WELL WITHIN MY THREE DAYS.

Same exact experience!

Guest

We've arrievd at the end of the line and I have what I need!

Guest

WOW, this is very sad and pathetic. This is exactly what they did to me. I complained and made a huge point to make them acknowledge that I was given a contract that was missing the third page, the PAGE THAT HAS THE INTENT TO CANCEL!!! This is fraud!!! They are still doing exactly what they did to me. I wrote my complaint on 3/12/2012, but apparently this REALLY is their practice. This is pathetic!!! Highly unprofessional, they keep it up, they are going to get sued!!!!

BTW, HOMEFIX, DONT CONTACT ME AGAIN ABOUT THIS COMMENT YOU DESERVE IT NOW!!!!! THERES NOTHING TO SAY YOU ARE SORRY FOR!!! THIS IS THE WAY YOU RUN YOUR COMPANY, THEN AND NOW!!! YOU WILL GET SUED!!

If your company thinks sooo many employees are out to get you, you should really consider taking a good look at your practices. When everyone else is saying the same things, you really need to look at yourself honestly!!!

Guest

Szthdy-

I am sincerely sorry for your frustrating experience with us. If you would please email me at customerservice@***.com I would appreciate the chance to make things right. Again, I apologize for your experience.

It got even WORSE. Scott Gramm had NOT provided the legal form for the notice of cancellation that THE CONTRACT EVEN REFERS TO is SUPPOSED to be provided (deliberate, I am sure).

They demanded that I had to come IN because of the financing they had arranged (again without my approval) would damage my credit (extortionist). When I went there, I provided a letter that is legal to use to cancel a contract when the notice has not been provided. Legally, you must have a dated receipt from the company that they received this. When I asked the receptionist (Laine Anderson) for a receipt of the cancellation letter, she said she wasn't authorized to do that, and her bosses don't come in for at least another hour.

They (she was joined by marketing director, Margaret Anderson) then accused me of attacking and threatening, when I mentioned that this felt like manipulations by the company to force me to keep the contract. They demanded I leave, though they were saying that no one could cancel the contract as requested, and it did have to be done that day.

THEN, when she finally got her boss, Adam Shampain, on the phone, when I explained to him that I did not authorize opening any credit account for me, he argued with me that they did have authorization to obtain credit for me, within the contract, whether I had completed such an application or authorized such verbally or not. When I expressed concern that the receptionist had stated she could not complete the cancellation, he said "Don't worry, I'll scan and e-mail it (the cancellation) to you an you'll never have to hear from us again".

This company handles themselves in manner that is manipulative, misleading, fraudulent, and extortionist, ultimately disrespectful to customers. WATCH OUT!

I now am fearful since they have my personal information what other possible fraudulent uses they could damage my identity and credit. :?

Harrassing marketing practices

IFor many months I've received harrassing phone calls from Homefix. I've written Homefix Corporation in vain to please reply to let me know: "How you obtained my unlisted phone number Why you hang up whenever we answer your calls, whether answered on one ring, four rings, or after six rings. Why the number on call back is always busy. Why when I call the main number listed on the web site are your phone reps alternately politely agreeing to remove our number (which apparently is not done) or the phone representative is defensive and occasionally abusive? Please monitor your so-called marketing practices!"

When you actually have homefix rep's, going on these sites to "apologize", you know there is a problem. Most companies do not have to do so much damage control; their service speaks for itself.

Guest

:eek

They called me AFTER a rep gad already come for the estimate too. That freaked me out.

REad my review to see the rest of THAT story. UGH!

To follow up on this review, we have contacted Mr. Singer via telephone, and the issue has been resolved.

For future reference, you may contact HomeFix at customerservice@***.com. Thank you.

Mr. Singer,

I apologize for your frustration with our call center. I have responded to your complaint on multiple forums.

Thank you
